• The first National Honor Society meeting will be on Tuesday, August 27 at 7:25 am in Mrs. T. Cook’s room. If you are a current member, make plans to attend.
  • The Texas Association of Future Educators will hold their first meeting on Thursday, 8/29/19 in Mrs. Faircloth’s Room.  All students interested in education and careers in education are welcome to attend.
  • The Roughneck and Ladyneck Cross Country teams kicked off the 2019 season at Union Grove on Saturday, August 24th. The weather was hot and humid, and the course dry and hilly, however these factors didn’t stop the runners from turning out excellent early season performances. The Varsity girls race saw 104 runners complete the course. Morgan Benge finished 13th overall in a time of 14:27. Benge was followed by teammate Abby Quesenberry in 50th place for 16:15. The Varsity boys race saw strong early season performances from Alberto Soto, 19:43, 25th place, John Langley, 20:04, 31st place, and Nathan Green, 21:15, 55th place with 122 runners competing in the race. The JV boy’s race saw a trio of rookies take to the course. Freshman Tristan Blair led all Roughnecks with a 8th place finish in 20:46. Blair was followed by Sophomore Adrian Pinson in 2oth with a time of 22:07. Logan Duggar, also a freshman, finished the 5k course in 23:25 for 42nd out of 122 runners. Next weekend, the runners will race at the Backwoods Gallop hosted by LeTourneau University. Traditionally, the course is flat and fast with mostly grassy terrain. The races will begin at 9:00 with the Varsity boys followed by the Varsity girls and JV boys at 9:30 and 10:00 respectively.
  • Congratulations to Katelyn Jester for being selected as WOHS Miss Gregg County Representative.  She will represent White Oak at the Miss Gregg County Pageant on September 12th.  Congratulations KJ!
  • Student Council meeting Wednesday morning at 7:30 in room 125.  If you missed the first meeting please come.  Also, don’t forget to bring your paperwork to the meeting.
  • AP Exam money must be paid by August 30. The price is $94 for each AP Test. If not paid you will be removed from the AP class on that day.
  • The date for Senior retakes and deposits for Senior Ads is September 13. You need a $25 deposit for your ad.
  • Students interested in UIL Academic activities, make plans to join us for a road trip to Tyler Junior College on Saturday, September 7th. Mark it on your calendars and see your UIL sponsor for more information.
  • You still have time to sign up for auditions for our fall musical. Packets are available in the choir and theatre rooms. And the sign-up sheet is in Mr. Higginbotham’s classroom, which is in the lower hallway, next to Coach Hodges and across the hallway from the Ag. Remember, auditions are on Thursday, August 29th!
